Why Are You Waiting?

Be your own COO.  That’s the phrase that inspired me to type and publish today. Without deadlines, or the fear of letting someone down, or losing money, I’m not sure what motivates me. If I am the one creating my own deadlines, I’m “only” letting myself down. I am certainly used to doing that.  I am stepping into being the one to create my own deadline.  I am holding myself responsibly for my future. In the past, not meeting a deadline meant I’m a failure.  Which is not true – not meeting a deadline means I didn’t meet a deadline, not that I will never meet any deadlines ever.  Why do our brains trick us into being small? What will go wrong if you do the thing that you spend all day thinking about? Will you have a better idea tomorrow? What if the opportunity comes tomorrow, and instead of a beautifully curated portfolio of thoughts and plans, you only have a few crumpled post it notes and a general idea? Then you learn from that experience, and you take the next appropriate step. Smooth out the post it note. Frame the thing if you need to, in order to remind yourself everyday of your purpose and your goals.

  1. Extensions are meant for deadlines. This is what I use in my work “this extension is not meant for the purpose of delay, but so that justice can be done” 🙂 Justice comes in many forms!
