Whatever your runDisney team needs, Amanda Schmidt can make it happen.

Ever since I was a little Schmidt, I’ve wanted to try everything:  Ballet, choir, Girl Scouts, soccer, gymnastics, voice lessons, after school activities or volunteering with church.  If there was a sign up sheet, my name was on there!  Now a days, that would probably be diagnosed as #FOMO, but that when # was the pound sign on the telephone.  Now for the better part of a decade, I’ve worked for the world’s most famous mouse.  My favorite part of The Walt Disney Company, is the proliferation of happiness.  I am now the random person who smiles at strangers in the grocery store.  Fortunately, most of them smile back.  Recently, I realized I would be the perfect fit to work on the runDisney social media team. Why is that?

Social Media Usage

I remember Facebook in 2004 when this was the homepage.  I first heard about Pinterest through friends.  I emailed the company, and patiently waited days to for my acceptance email to start creating my virtual bulletin boards. Now, signing up for Pinterest takes seconds, and according to our lecture can reach 70+ million unique viewers. Online capabilities are constantly changing, and I want to use new technology to the best of its ability.   Check out my Pinterest page showcasing Schmidt I find interesting to try to improve my health and fitness, entertaining quotes, and photos from this blog.  My Instagram abilities are improving as well.

Television

Ellen Talk ShowI returned to TV  in this clip on the Ellen Show where I had the good judgement to not raise my hand, as well as restraining myself to not shout out the answers when other audience members couldn’t think of them.  There is a time and place for everything, and national television usually isn’t the place.  My first experiences were with Bozo the Clown and an educational commercial lost in the time before the Internet, which may be for the best.

Care for the Environment

People who have seen my room may disagree, but cleanliness when putting on a runDisney production is important.  As a Disney Cast Member, we are all custodians.  For the past year and a half, I have been a Custodial Guest Service Duty Manager.  People are messy, and Disney does a first class job of cleaning up after everyone, especially exhausted runners.  Need help handling all the clothes and trash left behind on the race course?  Let’s get better at donating to charity and recycling! Racing is an individual sport that thrives on interacting and bonding with others that share the same goals, which include continuing to live on planet Earth.  Every racer, spectator and Voluntear will know about runDisney’s Environmentality!

Persistence

At last count, I’ve earned 21 medals while racing on Disney property.  IMG_2599 (1)Which makes me a perfect runDisney team member! I have the race shirts, medals and Cinderella New Balance running shoes to show my dedication to the brand.

I’ve earned the Coast to Coast medal twice! Two other times, I participated in 10ks at Disneyland that didn’t earn me the Coast to Coast, but a Coast 10k Coast medal is a great idea… just saying… Life truly is a marathon, not a sprint, and I bring the motivation to just keep swimming.

I’m looking forward to meeting with you!  I know the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon is coming up soon, if you need any help, let me know!  I will see you the following weekend in California for the Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon Weekend!  In the meantime, I’ll be doing my best to make the world a better place, one pile of Schmidt at a time.
